<title>Algorithms for Objects' Shape Recognition and Measurement Before Gripping</title>

<description>Algorithms for Objects' Shape Recognition and Measurement Before Gripping
Srarețu, Ionel; Itu, Alexandru
The paper proposes an algorithmic methodology to solve a necessary first step,&#13;
namely visualization, recognition and measurement of objects, for gripping, in&#13;
particular by means of anthropomorphic grippers for robots. For object shape&#13;
recognition, Haar classifiers, and an Open CV library use are proposed. Based on&#13;
measurement of the distance between the initial point and a second intermediate&#13;
point, you can do calculations, aimed at object size, and distance remaining to the&#13;
target. Thus, the algorithmic method for visualization, recognition, and&#13;
measurement of objects for anthropomorphic gripping, is based on a number of&#13;
existing software modules. They have been adapted for the intended purpose, and&#13;
specially designed software modules were added.

<title>Processsing and Analyzing Object Images With the view of Object Grasping</title>

<description>Processsing and Analyzing Object Images With the view of Object Grasping
Starețu, Ionel; Itu, Alexandru
This paper presents a solution based on image processing techniques used&#13;
for analyzing images of objects which will be grasped, using existing&#13;
software technologies completed with specific software modules. Digital&#13;
image processing, as part of the grasping strategy, is based on a number of&#13;
Microsoft technologies used to manage the devices attached to a computer,&#13;
and a series of image processing techniques. The analysis is made directly&#13;
on the video sequence taken from a video device (web cam). From the&#13;
video, sequence frames are extracted which are then converted into RGB&#13;
format and transformed into digital images used for analysis.&#13;
Based on the existing technologies review, several necessary adjustments&#13;
are identified to the proposed objective, and several specific software&#13;
modules which can be conceived are described in details, and are then used&#13;
to facilitate the implementation.&#13;
The sequence presented in this paper is a part of an ample process, that&#13;
aims to optimize the grasping strategy used for anthropomorphic&#13;
prehensors with fingers from robot equipment.

<title>Seismic Base Isolation of Structures Using Frictuon Pendulum Bearings</title>

<description>Seismic Base Isolation of Structures Using Frictuon Pendulum Bearings
Șcheaua, Fănel
Base isolation systems have become a significant element to enhance&#13;
reliability during an earthquake. One type of base isolation system is&#13;
Friction Pendulum Bearing in which the superstructure is isolated from the&#13;
foundation using specially designed concave surfaces and bearings to&#13;
allow swayunder its own natural period during the seismic events. Friction&#13;
Pendulum Bearings are seismic isolation systems that have been as a kind&#13;
of bridge, and building retrofit in numerous cases around the world. To&#13;
assess their impact on structure performance, models are needed to&#13;
capture the behavior of these highly nonlinear elements.

<title>Damage Detection at Vibration Passive Isolation Devices</title>
<link>http://arthra.ugal.ro/handle/20.500.14043/24755</link>
<description>Damage Detection at Vibration Passive Isolation Devices
Năstac, Silviu; Leopa, Adrian
This paper deals with some theoretical aspects combined with experimental&#13;
tests regarding early damage identification in vibroisolation devices. This&#13;
study was a natural fall-back of an analysis regarding the behaviour of the&#13;
passive isolation devices against vibration and seismic waves. On the&#13;
exploitation time, all technical devices and systems acquire a different&#13;
wearing out levels because of the dynamic charging. Hereby performance&#13;
characteristics change and the system starts working improperly. Rubber&#13;
based on elements is especially discussed. Numerical simulations were&#13;
developed for simple spatial configurations of isolation devices. A&#13;
Stochastic approach of essential results was briefly presented together&#13;
with relevant results and discussions.
