The paper presents a state of the art concerning radial fretting for dissimilar bodies and fretting damage. Four simple fretting models are defined in the literature: tangential, radial, rotational and torsional. Only the tangential model has been widely researched but it is recognized the importance of superposition of the models for the fretting cases from industry or biomedical applications. For polymers, only small amplitude oscillatory tangential motions were studied. Experimental tests carried out by the authors on polymeric balls on glass plate during cyclic normal loadings revealed the conditions of load and frequency for radial fretting occurrencero_RO
