Aspects of Rheological Behavior of Rapeseed Oil
Abstract
This paper presents a study of dynamic viscosity variation with shear rate for rapeseed oils obtained from different stages of processing and the hydraulic oil grade H32. For each of the 6 types of oils studied was determined the dynamic viscosity by changing the shear rate from 3.3 to 120 s-1 and temperature from 40ºC to 90ºC. Analysing the results, it was noticed a decrease in dynamic viscosity for the shear rate, as increase for all tested oils and for all temperatures at which determinations were performed. Decreasing viscosity with increasing shear rate shows that these oils have characteristics of non-Newtonian pseudoplastic fluids.
