Abstract
An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), is designed for integrated management of all processes and operations within a company within a single IT platform. ERP applications are remarkable for their ability to bring together people, know-how, software and hardware components that make them available to the entire organization, helping to achieve the company's specific and general goals. An ERP is made up of specific modules designed for different functional areas, such as Sales, Acquisitions, Production, Finance, Accounting and others, with the indication that they are fully integrated and access a common database. ata is the main unit of measurement of an ERP system, and the database is the central repository in which they are stored and organized. The relationship between the database and the functionalities that the ERP system performs is achieved through the ERP application. It is responsible for the data collection, validation, processing, transfer or export activities, activities that it performs via the interface. The ERP system can collect data by various methods, such as:
• Entering by operators: from the keyboard or directly - by scanning barcodes, for example
• Import from other databases
• Transfer with EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
In short, the role of the ERP application is to link the database to the user through the interface it provides.
