FROM THE VERBAL TO THE VISUAL: VICTORIAN NONSENSE IN TIM BURTON’S CINEMATIC ADAPTATION OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Abstract

The present paper aims to analyze the elements used by Tim Burton to represent the Victorian Era through the costumes, means of transport, and decorations. In doing so, special attention will be given to the translation of nonsense into images in his film adaptation Alice in Wonderland (2010).
