Abstract
For achieving this study the background of the research in correlation domain between roughness and piece durability are used. This paper performs a new research direction about the roughness, considered such volumetric roughness. An accurate correlation between volumetric durability and roughness is presented. Replacing the roughness which is measured on a line it is thought that a better evaluation of the surface conditions in the shape of “hills and valleys” which means an evaluation of the surface roughness on a certain zone. An analytical relation between roughness and cutting process parameter is performed. Because apparatus for volumetric roughness evaluation does not exist until now, only pictures of resulted volumetric surface for different cutting processes are performed.
